Question by Rick: Why does anyone feel sorry for “single moms”? They chose to have premarital sex! Who cares if life is tough?
I don’t understand why people would feel sorry for other people who voluntarily choose problems, like drug addiction.
Feel sorry for children on burn units, not sluts.

I dont think a girl who gets pregnant should get any help at all. No wic, welfare, food stamps, I think her kid should be taken and given to someone who deserves to raise a kid.
Not all single moms had premarital sex. The term “single mom” refers to a woman/mom who raises children on their own. This could be due to divorce, death of the husband…but also, like you said, premarital sex. I think we feel sorry for them, because their situation isn’t prefferred. I mean, it’s human nature to care for those less fortunate than us. It’s compassion that’s built in us to care and pity people we see going through a hard time.
If this single mom had gotten divorced because her husband was cheating or abusive then I would feel sorry for her because she didn’t choose that life.
But yeah if she’s like still in her teens, well, you made that choice so live with it.
I know a single mother that was a virgin til marriage, then once married had a kid and the husband cheated while she was pregnant and got divorced shortly after the child was born, now she is now a single mother. What is wrong with that situation? She wasn’t a slut.

The wrongness of premarital sex is a complex thing to many people who were not raised to believe it wrong. They made their decisions. Just because you disapprove, doesn’t mean you’re right. Single mothers also may be widowed or divorced. It doesn’t make them sluts. Depending on your views, you may agree or disagree that these women deserve welfare. I have no say in that matter. However, I pity these women because humans usually pity those struggling as many single moms are. Stop stereotyping.

women have the glass ceiling and can’t make the same amount of money as a man! plus they have to cook, clean, and take care of the kids!!

they took the wrong comfort!! that doesn’t mean they should be condemed!

they did make bad decisions,
but just because they messed up doesnt mean that they dont deserve some help,
im not saying give them lots of help and money,
but dont be cruel.

Not all single mothers are promiscuous or s*****. How judgemental to just assume this is the case. What about the man who cheats on his wife or is abusive to his kids. Should the woman stay with him or give it a try on her own in order to give her children and herself a chance at a better life. Or a adult woman who was engaged to the father of her kids and found out he is a liar and a adulterer and broke their engagement off. Should she be thrown aside. People should not judge when they don’t have the full story of the circumstances of the situation.
Not all single moms were single when they had a child. Death,divorce,desertion can occur.
I dont feel sorry for single moms, i stick a couple bucks in thier G string every time they dance in front me at the strip club. They earned it, its not charity.
Great question! I’m a single mom and its tough yes but I’ve managed at 15 now im 18 and things are better. As for why people care its simple cortasy and some people have been in that type of predicament. Second off if your asking this question you must not me compasionate but then again who am i to judge. I worry more about my childs well being than guys. Im an CNA and i will show my child i can be someone even when i made a great mistake that altered my life.
Well you don’t always know the situation behind their pregnancy… you’re lucky not to have family members that like to get theirs off with other members of their family, or deal with a pregnancy that resulted from forced intercourse from some random guy… so don’t be so quick to judge others.
My kid’s dad died fighting for our country. So yes I am a single mom. I find you to be very rude ppl like you disgust me!
